I am currently affiliated with Soon Movement Global (KCCC),
a college missionary organiation under CCC International, in the United States.
I am engaged in ministry targeting Asian-American students on college campuses.
Having encountered God deeply through faith training during my college years,
I understand how crucial faith training is during the precious time of youth, where values are formed.
In a world increasingly characterized by individualism, I hope Christians can go beyond focusing solely on personal faith. I pray for the restoration of a community spirit and the evangelistic spirit, allowing us to live according to eternal values.
Missionaries are actively engaged in a mission organization divided into five major regions within the United States,
with around 40 missionaries serving on each campus.
I am undergoing missionary training for about a year to become a campus missionary in the Atlanta region,
which was the last to be established in 2009. Training is conducted in LA,
where the headquarters is located, during the first half of the year and in Atlanta during the second half.
How?
In the new semester, we organize a Free K-BBQ meeting to gather incoming students and promote our Christian club.
Typically, around 150-200 students participate in this gathering on each campus.
We connect with these students, initiating 1:1 Bible studies, leading to weekly campus worship on Thursdays, and a special "Gethsemane Worship" on Fridays where students from four campuses (Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Emory, UGA) come together.
As the verse Ecclesiastes 12:1 says, "Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, 'I find no pleasure in them.'"
It fills me with pride to see students passionately engaging in worship on fiery Friday nights, even if they are located hours away, such as UGA, demonstrating their dedication and love for worship.
In addition, we conduct various programs for spiritual training, including the Korean CCC summer conference,
winter conference, and short-term missions during the summer.
Through these programs, students undergo spiritual training, and as their faith grows and matures, they are equipped to become spiritual leaders, participating in disciple-making training to share the grace they have received.
Where?
Georgia, Atlanta, is recognized as the third-largest city in the United States with a significant Korean population.
The city is home to a diverse Asian community, including students from Korea as well as those from China,
Japan, and India. Asian students in Atlanta carry a unique set of challenges.
Their experiences are marked by a sense of not fully belonging, a feeling exacerbated by the subtle but lingering racial discrimination within American society.
Many students have encountered situations where they felt they didn't truly belong due to ongoing racial discrimination.
Starting from childhood experiences of bullying to having lunch alone in the restroom, these students face various forms of discrimination throughout their educational and professional journeys, even within their communities.
The vision I received from God is to convey to these students that the true place of belonging is not in people or communities but in the kingdom of God.
My mission is to remind these students, citizens of the kingdom of God, of their worth and dignity, helping them realize how valuable and noble they are as individuals.
Five years ago, as a student missionary, I first came to Atlanta, and that experience led me to commit to a life of campus ministry. Now, obedient to God's call, I am undergoing training as a full-time missionary, preparing to serve, teach, and love the souls entrusted to me by God once again.
How can you join in this mission?
Like many missionary organizations, Soon Movement Global relies on the generosity of others to sustain its mission. Therefore, fundraising is necessary to cover the basic costs of living and ministry.
Regular prayers and support from churches and fellow Christians are also essential.
Missions are not a solo endeavor; it is a calling given to all Christians by God.
I invite you to join me as a team member in campus ministry.
May you be blessed with the grace of participating in the restoration and expansion of God's kingdom through supporting and sending missionaries.
